I am a writer with experience in comedy sketches, satirical articles, one-liners and TV voice overs. I am looking for an entry level copywriting position. I drawn to copywriting as I enjoy coaxing out interesting narratives, finding original angles and persuasively articulating ideas.

I write for the satirical women’s magazine Succubus. I have been involved with the magazine since its launch back in March and helped develop the editorial brief. Taking cues from sites such as The Onion and Reductress, we decided that snappy, laugh out loud, attention grabbing headlines were going to be key. The tone we established parodied that of a mainstream women’s magazine: chatty, up-beat, excessive in its use of acronyms and explanation marks. The platform is great fun to write for and while it’s still early days traffic to the site is steadily growing.
RESPONSIBLE FOR: Being the first point of contact for those engaging with the practice - managing the info account - responding to student queries and press requests - arranging meetings - assisting the Directors by carrying out PA duties - assisting the Studio Coordinator with diary management - booking travel, including hotels and international flights - ordering couriers, office groceries and stationery - assisting the bookkeeper by generating purchase orders, filing invoices and tracking credit card use - supporting the architects with general administrative tasks - assisting with document archiving - ensuring communal spaces were kept safe and tidy - arranging equipment repair - acting as a fire marshal - sending and sorting post - organising office events, such as Sports Day, the 25th Anniversary Party and the Christmas party.
I helped write the voice over for a reality TV pilot, produced by students at the National Film and Television school, called The Real Car Share. In terms of format, think First Dates meets James Corden’s Carpool Karaoke. I worked closely with the show’s producer to develop the tone of the voice over. We decided it should be droll, but good humoured; a slightly more subdued version of David Lamb’s iconic Come Dine With Me narration. The Real Car Share was recently optioned by Zigzag Productions.
Last June a sketch I wrote was included in BBC Salford’s Sitcom Showcase. It was a pun heavy skit about two elderly gentlemen misunderstanding the career paths taken by their millennial grandchildren (“what’s a barista?” asks one, “it’s Italian for lawyer”). The show was a vehicle for eighties comedian Russ Abbot, so I was writing with his voice and performance style in mind.
