As part of a legal team, I had to learn and fulfil my duties quickly and efficiently while maintaining the professionalism and discretion that were essential. My duties included diary management, collating complex documents to deadline, sorting and distributing post, and answering and screening calls.
I covered a variety of subject areas during the course of my degree, including critical theory, notable literary periods, and creative writing. The areas of particular interest which I chose to study in detail, and for which I carried out extensive research, include C19th literature, Modernism, Medieval literature, and children's literature. The largest and most complex project I undertook was my dissertation, in which I examined the relationship between literature and its accompanying illustrations using a variety of Victorian texts. My research included close analysis of the work of Charles Dickens, Elizabeth Gaskell, Christina Rossetti, Oscar Wilde and also the various ways in which this work was published at the time and has been since. My research also extended to the many and varying forms of illustration that have accompanied said texts. Throughout the course of my degree I was required to give presentations on a number of subjects, including critical theory and literary analysis.
