About me

. I am a highly motivated, reliable and creative English Literature graduate with comprehensive and diverse knowledge of the music industry that has developed from running a record label. Along with experience managing staff in an Editorial role as the Gigs Editor of music website Silent Radio, I am proficient in writing and editing interesting and relevant articles, with strong copywriting promotional abilities. In 2014 I went from writing my own music blog to starting my own company and I am now the Director of an Independent Record Label. Over the last two years I have co-ordinated over sixteen digital and cassette tape releases for local musicians and bands, while also managing and promoting my own gig nights.I have worked on both sides of the music spectrum, from receiving press releases and reading articles, to writing my own, I always try to see my work through the audience’s perspective, which is why I thrive when I am involved in the creative process the music industry has to offer.

  • At Blak Hand Records I am in control of actively finding talent, developing strong business relationships with my artists, along with maintaining financial records and expenses for the label. As a result of this, my business partner and I have kept costs low and are able to put more money towards merchandise and promotion for the bands. I am accomplished in writing press releases in Microsoft Office for dispatch to radio stations, magazines and newspapers, which conserves my editing skills, keeping them sharp and current. I frequently use Photoshop and Lightroom to design eye catching album covers, and have used Adobe Omniture and Google Analytics to gain a better understanding of our site users. I manage all single and EP release campaigns in a timely and cost efficient manner and look for ways to promote the label and our artists to their full potential using Mailchimp.

  • For three years I have managed a team of thirty writers, where my role includes editing and publishing music reviews and contacting press officers/record labels to arrange the guest list for our reviewers to help maximise media exposure of the musicians. I have a passion for all genres of music, continuously seeking talent while reading through the promotional emails I am sent from major and minor labels. I run the social media accounts Twitter, Facebook and Instagram for Silent Radio and use Google Analytics to discover which of our marketing campaigns have been the most successful. As of last month, I have been appointed as one of the Directors of the website. I was given this role because I have actively helped increase website traffic on our digital channels by running competitions, recruiting new writers and bringing attention to our articles, all using different marketing strategies that I have learned from a digital marketing course that I enrolled in. From my role as Gigs Editor, I have learned to successfully multi-task while working under pressure.

  • My current position at Ticketmaster varies from administrative duties which include processing membership payments and refunds, assisting in banking reconciliations and generating reports on behalf of high-profile football clubs such as Arsenal, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur. My administrative skills are derived from my time with Ticketmaster Sport, where I have been responsible for printing sports membership cards, ordering stock, photocopying, as well as helping with phone queries and email correspondence with box offices. I have also introduced an alternative way of book keeping our data with balance sheet and created several inventory checklists which have been highly praised by my managers and peers, resulting in an increase of productivity and organisation within the department. From this role I have also been given the opportunity to enhance my skills in ticketing by working sport and music box offices where I printed and sold tickets and helped customers at Emirates Old Trafford, Parklife Weekender and V-Festival.
