I am currently the part time receptionist and PA to the owner at one of Scotland’s top hair salons. Current duties include answering telephone calls, arranging appointments in the salon for customers and also for the owner, contacting our PR department to arrange meetings, promoting the brand on social media - Instagram, Snapchat and Facebook being the main platforms we use. I also order stock in daily and am the main point of contact in the salon. I am confident in Microsoft Office, Phorest and Mac software suites.
My University friend and I started our wedding band out of our passion for music and business. My duties include being the main point of contact with our clients via email, the social media and marketing of our band to potential clients as well as performing at our booked gigs across Scotland.
My main responsibility at Soma was torrent takedown - seeking out websites that hosted illegal copies of the artist’s music on the label then reporting them to the authorities. I also helped out with the merchandise and catalogue orders that came in - I would collect the items required and send them to the customers via the post office. I was also responsible for inputting artist’s royalty pay on Excel and updating our roster system. I assisted the PR/Marketing department with their social media.
As well as being involved musically with SO, I worked as a classroom assistant for a girl with cerebral palsy. I would ensure that her individual needs were met in the creative learning environment.
I assisted in organising meetings, sitting in on auditions, admin - spreadsheets, call sheets, invoices etc., and people/crowd management. During this time I developed my organisational skills and attention to detail whilst working in a fast paced environment.
At Edinburgh Napier University I was awarded the prestigious University Medal, given to one 4th year student each year who has shown the best performance overall in their degree and has demonstrated an outstanding level of commitment to their chosen subject - I feel that this attests to my work ethic and the wide range of my abilities. I am a fast learner and a dedicated employee who works equally well both in a team and independently.
This award was given to a pupil studying music who had shown an outstanding contribution to the music department at school.
