About me
I am an experienced TV/film researcher with excellent editorial and casting judgement, and good shooting skills. I have worked on a variety of content, from broadcast documentaries to online series, and have a particular interest in observational documentary. I am also a screenwriter and playwright, currently writing my first full length play, which will be produced by Open the Vault Productions this year. I have also just completed my latest short film script, 'Howl,' as part of the 'Females in Film' mentoring scheme run by Eastside Educational Trust. I now hope to seek funding and direct this short film in the near future. In 2016, I took part in another of Eastside's schemes, 'Project 50/50,' which lead to my short screenplay, 'The Good Society,' being made as part of an anthology film.

I work in a small team to produce short mini-docs and explainer films for The Economist’s YouTube channel, focusing on current affairs, politics, social issues, the economy, and technology. I undertake academic research and fact checking, help to develop the angle and structure of the film, cast contributors and interviewees, complete archive research, secure locations, set up local and international shoots, and film interviews. My editorial judgement has flourished, I’ve learnt a journalistic approach to filmmaking, and expanded my knowledge of documentary-making. I’ve received training in Premiere Pro, After Effects, shooting and lighting, and I am learning scriptwriting for factual content.

This online series of short videos aims to bust stereotypes, which I am passionate about. My role involved pitching and researching ideas for new episodes, developing each video’s content, and casting contributors. We were often casting for highly sensitive subjects, ranging from race to mental health, and I effectively built the trust of contributors through my compassionate nature, good listening and empathetic communication. I also gained the support of various organisations for specific videos, such as one about care leavers. In addition, I secured our studio location, scheduled each shoot, set up and assisted with camera, and monitored sound on set.

I specialised in Screenwriting for my third year, writing a feature screenplay. I also wrote numerous short screenplays, which was key to strengthening my creativity and storytelling skills. I made many short films during the course in different roles, giving me good all round experience. My dissertation explored female on-screen representation, specifically evaluating the figure of the ‘action heroine,’ as I am passionate about the on-screen representation of women and underrepresented groups.
