Callum Ayton Judd (b. 1991) is an Essex-based, freelance musician, producer and composer. Working predominantly in electro-acoustic and avant-garde composition, Callum began his involvement in music as bass player to several local punk and indie rock groups during secondary school. Success in Music and Music Technology at A-levels built a strong foundation in classical composition as well as modern production techniques propelling him into Music Composition and Technology BSc Hons at Hertfordshire University. Under guidance from his tutor Rob Godman, his hard work, understanding and growing skillset were rewarded with a 1st in 2014. Callum has just finished working on his master’s degree in Music Composition for Film and Media under composer, sound artist, performer and senior lecturer Dr Roberto Filoseta who enhanced Callum’s understanding of audio-visual synergy and introduced him to a plethora of contemporary audio- visual arts. Recent projects have focussed not only on music for video but sound as well; blurring the line between the two. Other projects include, short filmmaking, contemproary music theatre, experimental choral compositions, short piano pieces, ambient music and EEG signal - sound experimentation. Extensive experience with live sound, live performance, composition for orchestra, video production, Foley and electronics engineering combined with a friendly, no nonsense approach mark him out as an ideal collaborator in the field of avant-garde multimedia. Due to exploration of a broad range of subjects from music cognition, experimental composition, multimedia installations and sound for video, Callum is well placed to approach any of the challenges presented by a fast-paced and ever-changing media landscape. It is his commitment to the fusion of old and new that fuels his passion for innovative and experimental music.
