Designer + Maker + Creative Director
(+ writer)
Based in a self-built timber studio and workshop, nestled in spruce woodland in the Scottish hills, I have dedicated my rather silly adult life to designing and creating very special, and often very unusual handmade objects.
I was lucky enough to be trained by my father, a gifted designer and self taught furniture maker. That luck held, and since 2009 I have worked collaboratively with my wife, Marisa - an architect and also a very driven and passionate designer and entrepreneur.
My work combines traditional craft skills with an open approach to multi-disciplinary collaboration and an obsessive eye for detail, storytelling and layering; developing and then bringing theatrical, tactile pieces to life for both corporate and private clients - which have a personality all of thier own. (And continuing that grand tradition of Scottish inventors toiling away in sheds!)
I have been fortunate to work on unique projects for some truly wonderful clients over the years. Including Vacheron Constantin, Bentley Motors, Hermes, Aesop, Burberry and Edinburgh Castle. And have exhibited at the Royal Scottish Academy and the Royal Academy of the Arts in London.
