Driven to achieving my ambition of working in the Broadcasting industry. I am searching for every available opportunity to exercise my passion for presenting Television as a News Anchor. I am a confident communicator and versatile in my approach, my motivational attitude has lead to varied experiences within the Broadcasting industry, demonstrative of my dedication and commitment to developing my skill set.
Fulfilled a variety of different roles including producer, reporter, video operator and video editor. Creating and entire news story from the ground up, handling all different aspects connected with producing a news story from start to finish.
I wrote reviews of new albums, shows and DVD releases. I also produced articles that would go more in depth about the musicians and the people behind the music- these pieces usually include an interview with the band/artist which would usually take place after a gig.
Creating content for the website, researching into current showbiz news, create interview questions and put together events calendars. Included attending well-known events in London to shadow the interviews arranged.
As the Deputy Station Manager and Head of Programming, I lead a programming team on a student radio station, ensuring that they produced programming which reached the creative and commercial needs of the station. I also recruited, trained and developed my team until they meet my expectations, and undertook day-to-day management of all staff in the programming departments, encouraging creativity and commercial awareness. I oversaw the work of the programming team and worked closely with the Station Manager.
Attended various events around Cambridgeshire with a team of representatives promoting the radio station, informing listeners of current competitions via social media and taking photos to upload onto the website. Learnt the importance of maintaining a relationship with the audience and understanding what they want.
Interviewed celebrities at various festivals around the UK. Each festival was varied and interviews were privately pre-arranged. Gained confidence with interviewing techniques having interviewed the likes of Disclosure, Enter Shikari, Bastille, The 1975 and Ella Eyre.
Helped produce content for shows, along with researching, finding guests and interviews.
The Student Media Personality of the Year award is given to someone who has been involved in a media society and shown creativity, innovation and professionalism in the work they have done. Someone that is always reliable and often goes the extra mile.
