A little bit about me: I grew up in Christchurch, New Zealand. I attended Avonside Girls High School where I found my passion for anything and everything creative. I chose to study Graphic Design, Architecture, Photography, Painting and Drawing and Textile Design as well as Art History and Classical studies for my more “academic” Studies. After High School I attended Massey University in Wellington, New Zealand where I began studies towards a Bachelor of Design eventually finishing at the Christchurch Polytechnic Institute of Technology in 2011 After Graduating I landed an In house position as Graphic Designer for Mcphails Sports, a Supply company specialising in sporting goods as well as Clothing and shoes for a well loved New Zealand brand,Pumpkin Patch. Being a small company I was able to learn a lot about the business from attending meetings with our clients, buying samples and creating look books and mood boards for future collections as well as designing patterns for footwear, Backpacks and sporting goods such as Surfboards. I stayed in this position for 2 and a half years. I had always had an interest in Fashion and this role really helped me understand what goes into designing and constructing a fashion range. Another interest of mine that had been at the back of my mind for a very long time was London. So in August 2014 I packed up my life and moved to London where I have been living ever since. While in London I have been working at a company Flashbay as an in house designer specialising in the digital side of things. Flashbay is the number 1 UK and Europe supplier of Branded USB Drives and my role involves creating artwork and designs for the companies websites as well as marketing materials including emailers. I have also been very involved in the product photography, something I had previously no experience in. This part of the job allows me to be quite creative in the way I can display how the USB drives are viewed. Also fine tuning my Photoshop skills! When i'm not travelling around Europe collecting prints from every city I visit you can find me doing Yoga in Richmond or cooking up a storm after visiting the Borough markets. I also enjoy a good aimless wander, taking in all the sights and inspirations that London has to offer.
As In house Graphic Designer I was responsible for a range of digital designs, including layouts, logos, web imagery, Photography and typography for the Flashbay website and 4 other sister sites. Also some print design; brochures, business cards and packaging supporting campaigns developed by the Marketing Team and external agencies.
I worked on designing footwear and accessories for Pumpkin Patch and Charlie and Me while also conversing with factories in China and working with them on the construction of the designs for the client. I was involved in research, sample buying and presenting to the client as well as designing and developing the overall look of the product. During this time I also worked with another client, Body Glove International where I designed a range of prints for products including Backpacks, bodyboards and wetsuits as well as promotional materials for catalogues and mailers.
