As the sole content writer on staff at Promo News, I am tasked with writing a minimum of six articles a day, working to tight, hourly deadlines. I’ve learned to quickly research key information concerning the music video or director at hand, and write neat, quippy articles to provide context and broaden the understanding of the moving image piece. In this position, I have: • Gained writing expertise and amassed an understanding of visual styles and creative techniques in music video as well as an awareness of leading creatives in the industry • Wrote hundreds of engaging, informative feature and news posts for PromoNews and came up with interesting interview candidates, and coordinated interviews with them • Selected and aggregated content for popular Videos of the Month playlist, an important tastemaker of the music video industry • Corresponded with director’s representatives and execs in the industry for information, press packs and video credits • Manager of website while executive editor is away, writing and publishing six posts daily
• Edited directors’ showreels, researched visuals and designed punchy, engaging treatments for directors • Designed eye-carching mailchimp newsletters with moving GIF elements on Photoshop • Managed website updates, backed up master files and kept files tidy and easy to find on mother-drive • Gained on-set experience as a runner on the following shoots: MNEK ‘The Rythm,’ by Clemens Habicht, Vax idents by The Brooklyn Brothers, Giffgaff Holloween, by Megaforce, Carhartt fashion film ‘WIP’ by Joshua Gordon
