Gem106 in the East Midlands really is a jewel of a radio station. A market leading, nationally recognised station with a multiple Radio Academy award winning breakfast show. My role as Creative Account Manager is to create commercial content as good as our programming. Working with clients from the very first step, I take them on a journey through the brief, the concept, the treatment until the day they hear themselves blasting from the speakers of our radio station. And even then it's not over. I am constantly developing relationships with my clients so they feel like I'm truly a part of their marketing team. They trust my judgement and have faith in my ideas, because they work, and they have the evidence. As well as creating effective and engaging radio commercials utilising the best in industry talent, I also work closely with our sponsorship, promotions, interactive and programming teams to create brand integration campaigns, where we weave our clients message into our award winning content. Creating amazing radio is at the heart of everything I do, but our production house Orion Productions has also received critical acclaim and awards nominations for multiplatform video and digital content that compliments every campaign we work on. We might be a radio station, but we do so much more than just talk.
As Creative, Promotions and Interactive Account Manager, I helped to bridge the gap between programming and commercial content through the innovative use of on air properties, brand integration and events. A step further than traditional sponsorship and promotions roles, my role encompassed commercials, video, digital marketing, social media, on air promotions, events management and a multitude of ways to integrate your brand with ours, giving you, the client, an effective, engaging and entertaining campaign which delivers results.
As a creative consultant, my job was to come up with entertaining, engaging and effective multi-platform advertising campaigns, from conception to completion. Some of my achievements include a record revenue month from the Wolverhampton site 2 years in a row, through innovative ideas, a great client relationship, slick execution and some of the biggest talent on the voiceover circuit; transforming the Worcester site’s revenue performance through implementing the creative led sell; helping the Central Vauxhall region outperform all others in their big event through brand integration and video (my video had more views on YouTube than Vauxhall’s official video). I have given guest lectures at BCU on creative writing, commercial production and professional practice, and I am the voice of several clients on air, just please don’t ask me which ones...
As part of the Kerrang! Radio Roadie team I represented the station in front of the public, by way of flyering at Kerrang! Concerts, interacting with the public to raise awareness of the brand and our events, traveling around the Midlands distributing free goods and representing clients such as Lucozade, Maoam, BeSure Chlamydia Testing and Birmingham City Council, as well as managing crowds and assisting bands during Live @ Kerrang! Shows. I also filled in for cancelled shifts at short notice and acted as reception cover on occasion.
