Hi There! my name is Chris Browne I am a freelance UX designer/developer with a penchant for designing & building robust usable websites. I have over 15 years experience and have coded and designed for brands such as Laura Ashley, Red Bull, Next, NTT and many more global brands over the years.
I was hired by Headforwards as a front-end UX UI developer. My role involved managing and maintaining the front-end codebase of NTT’s ‘Enterprise Cloud’ platform. With over 2million lines of code all underpinning the infrastructure for a number of fortune 500 companies it was a massively scoped project with teams from across the globe working together via agile methods to further continue the success of the product. My duties included scoping and coding new functionality using HTML5, CSS and JS based technologies. However, I often discovered that due to the sheer size and scope of the project I had to quickly digest and become au-fait with a few technologies that I was somewhat unfamiliar with. Hence I could often be found dipping into and editing Perl and Python files and performing DB updates using PostgresQl - A bit nerve racking at time’s but hiding behind the protection of Git, terribly rewarding too. My proudest achievement on this project was working with the product owner to compile user stories to ensure that the app could become responsive for smaller screens and mobile. This was an especially difficult task due to the nature of the code. Much of it was legacy, and was not naturally receptive to current responsive design methodologies. Leveraging my skills with UX and UI design, html5 and CSS3 I was able to target and essentially re-write sections of the front-end without damaging existing partner portals and affiliates. Achieving the ultimate goal of responsiveness across all portals and white-labelled entities on this enormous global codebase.
Fusing creative ideation with technological supremacy to deliver messages humans can understand.
Working with and providing front-end code to brands such as Redbull, Next, Laura Ashley etc..
Working as a front end dev with a heavily VC backed dynamic startup was great fun and a massive challenge for my skillset... I was responsible for both brand creation, conceptualisation, design and coding the aesthetic layers into WordPress and Yii.
I studied, Environmental Chemistry and Ecology for 4 years at Northampton University UK.
