My name is Chris Chan and I am (or was) an actor, musician and would describe myself as an all-round creative. After six years of being on stage & on screen as a performer, I feel I may have a bigger calling and am eager to move from being in front of the camera to being behind it - restarting either as a runner, assistant or researcher with the hope of being a producer or showrunner. I studied music at Oxford where I obtained a First class degree in Music and was the college organ scholar. Whilst participating in drama productions and music performances through the school year, I also taught himself how to record music, design, photoshop and market a music CD aged 15; film and edit video, producing my first full 2 hour long documentary of his school's music tour at aged 16, and then hand coded my first website using HTML and CSS whilst at university aged 19. A selection of all my recent projects and portfolio can be viewed here: https://workbychrischan.wordpress.com/ Amongst professional music credits as a composer, pianist, organist, choral trainer and conductor, I served as Musical Director for the Oxford String Ensemble, Merton Chapel Choir and Kodaly Choir and Voxabilis, whom he was founder. I was also the music director of Young Voices Children’s Choir in South London for 5 years. As an actor, theatre credits include: There’s Only One Wayne Lee and Magical Chairs at Southwark Playhouse and The People’s Theatre, Beijing, Anything Goes at the Kilworth House Open-air Theatre, an actor-musician production of Pinocchio in the Middle East, the role of the Prince and King in Yeh Shen: A Chinese Cinderella and Privates on Parade in the West End as part of the Michael Grandage Season. TV includes appearances in numerous commercials and pilots such as JustEat and Bankers. Film credits include: Harry Potter & The Deathly Hallows II, Krish & Lee, Partisan, Manland and Kick-Ass 2.
I've predominantly been doing independent projects for myself or external companies in the areas of short film, video, web design, music and performing arts.
I was music director for 5 years, working with and preparing children aged 6-14 for concerts, performances and recordings. Whilst also having the role of teaching, and conducting the choir, I would also arrange songs, prepare sheet music and compose new songs and vocal compositions for the choir. Performances with directing include two opera performances (including one at Cadogan Hall), television engagements for Channel 4, Australian TV, and recordings at Air Studios.
I was awarded an Organ Scholarship, and studied Techniques of Composition and wrote my dissertation on "Music in Advertising and Commercials"
I was offered an Oxbridge organ scholarship to support my studies in Music in Oxford University.
