Having recently relocated to London from Glasgow I am looking to continue my career working within music and arts organisations. For the last two years I have worked within the Centre For Contemporary Arts, Glasgow as the Manager of the Saramago Cafe. In this time I was actively involved in the music programming of the venue. Before that I was the Assistant Manager of iconic music venue and record shop, Mono.
Saramago Cafe is situated within the Centre for Contemporary Arts in Glasgow. My role as manager was to ensure the successful running of the business both financially, operationally and creatively. Along with the day to day workings of the business I was involved in curating a vibrant programme of live music both through independently booking performers and liaising with promoters and other arts organisations http://www.cca-glasgow.com/programme
Mono Cafe is an independent music venue and bar in Glasgow. Along with the bar and venue the building also housed a record shop (Monorail Music) and an arts book shop (Good Press). My role as assistant manager was to handle day to day operations of the building and ensure the venue was programmed with a high calibre of musical acts. In my time there we hosted and organised performances by Franz Ferdinand, Teenage Fanclub, The Vaselines, Edwyn Collins, a three night run of a site specific opera by Scottish Opera, and the yearly record store day events.
