Sample Room Manager & Assistant Designer

Miss Crabb

Feb 2013 - Aug 2016
  • Full Time
  • Miss Crabb is a high-end fashion line, designed and produced in Auckland, New Zealand. The clothing takes a subversive approach to shape, proportion and beauty so each piece transcends time, age and place. The purpose and function of my role was to support Owner/Creative Director Kristine Crabb with all creative and technical aspects of the range. I managed the design and technical development, as well as the production process, responsible for the critical path from concept through to shipment set out each season. This included all samples, special pieces and full seasonal Miss Crabb collections, as well as overseeing and managing junior staff. I worked through any issues through the pattern and development stages and conducted the fit sessions at each stage. I then went on to liaise with both sample machinists and factories, problem solving any issues quickly when necessary to ensure all garments achieved the high quality, luxury standards set to produce a Miss Crabb piece. Being part of a small team, all tasks were undertaken in a practical, hands- on manner. I also developed the ‘Special’ area of the business during my time at Miss Crabb, a custom dress service. I saw through the entire process, from consultation, to production, to final fittings and any other necessary follow up.
