The award celebrates the most effective and influential collaborations between a university and employer to offer students additional employability skills and opportunities. The collaboration between Ravensbourne and Ogilvy began in 2011 with a future talent programme called The Rough Diamond, which partnered educational disrupters and innovators in educational learning with aims to identify, develop and nurture new creative talent. The project is open to second year Ravensbourne students who have the opportunity to secure a one year internship. Ogilvy have employed 13 Ravensbourne students since the start of the collaboration and have a 50% hire rate at the end of each year’s intake. Ravensbourne Industry Liaison, Jo Eaton said; "Ravensbourne and Ogilvy have been developing the Rough Diamond Programme over the past six years and there are many people to thank for the programme's success. It is fantastic to finally gain recognition for all the hard work of both the teams and of course to acknowledge the amazing successes of the students that have benefitted from the programme". Nicole Yerson, Director of Innovative Solutions at Ogilvy said of the scheme “it has really changed the way we look at future talent. We can put these students straight to work on live briefs as they have the skillset ready to go. We wanted to immerse them in our business giving them the space to learn and grown, but also give them guidance along the way.” The awards received over 400 nominations from employers, universities and students and the winners of each Award were selected by an independent judging panel, made up of industry professionals. Ravensbourne and Ogilvy warded off competition from finalists University of East Anglia and the East of England Energy Group, EC Futures and Tata Technologies, The University of Birmingham and Capgemini, The University of Nottingham and International Celebrity Networks (ICN) and Glasgow Caledonian University, Glasgow School for Business and Society and Enterprise Rent-A-Car.
