Originating from a computer engineering background and focusing on digital media production in my postgraduate studies, I have engaged with the applications of new technologies and emerging media (mainly AR, VR, MR and IoT) as far as the creative industry is concerned. Developing a portfolio (https://www.costaskazantzis.com) including collaborations with well-esteemed stakeholders such as Microsoft, Diptyque Paris, Kering, Gucci, Ars Electronica, Digital Anthopology Lab, I have gained valuable insight and experience as far as the use of digital technology is concerned in regard to advertising, curation of immersive experiences, reintroduction of the customer retail experience, interactive products and digital communications. The projects I have undertaken include “Perfume Experiential Discovery” (developed with Microsoft and Diptyque Paris), a full sensory immersion in custom fragrances which uses mixed reality in conjunction with smart sensor technology as well as “Huck”, an interactive garment that can be hacked via an AR mobile application to affect its wearer through inflatable technology and increase in temperature (developed with Digital Anthropology Lab). Being a semi-finalist for the Kering Awards for Sustainable Fashion, I developed a virtual reality platform for the communication of Gucci’s sustainability goals and achievements and also was responsible for Sharon Wauchob’s brand digital presence (new website, social media, press) for a period of 6 months. This September, I will be taking part at Ars Electronica 2019 with interactive installation “Navigating without a view”, a multi-sensorial experience that investigates the possibilities of orientation in a world without a map or a compass, a world without representation or established views or truths.
- Navigating without a viewNavigating without a View is an immersive installation that investigates the possibilities of orientation in a world without a map or a compass, a world without representation and established views or truths. When guidance and direction become impossible everything falls back on the senses. But what becomes of the senses when they are altered by the digital, quantitative and mathematical?
