Projects
- Glug 17 - The Global GoalsIn September 2015, 193 world leaders signed up to the UN’s Global Goals initiative. This set out 17 development goals across those countries based around three key themes: ending extreme poverty, fighting inequality and injustice, and fixing climate change. To help build awareness around this, Glug invited 17 artists, designers and studios, to create a poster around one of the goals each. I was asked to reflect on the goal ‘No Poverty’. Reducing poverty has become an international concern, ye
- Eden Marsh X YouThe Eden Marsh X You project is based around the idea of collaboration, which was created in association with Eden Marsh and Forth Studio. The challenge was to produce my own interpretation of this theme using the Eden Marsh brand colours – black, white and grey. As collaborations vary enormously depending on their goals, settings, teams and resources, the connecting factor being human activity. The process can evolve to be a very organic and energetic development between one another to aspire
- Evolve-ING Creative Festival gathers both regional and international professionals from varied positions and specializations within the creative industry to give and attend a series of Talks, Workshops and an Exhibition situated in Dubai, UAE. I was invited alongside 30 international artists and designers to exhibit during the festival. As part of the exhibition, I created and explored a new series of typographic and lettering work. Wood has played an important role in the history of civilisation. Humans have constantly found new ways to make use of wood i.e. to produce fuel, building materials, furniture, paper, tools, and more. This continual 'evolving' process of changing form and purpose, very much relates to the designer. As a designer you must 'evolve' with challenges and 'evolve' your skill set. The skateboard deck consists of a typographic design enhanced by a laser cut gradient to create a three-dimensional effect courtesy of Glasgow Laser.
- Lettering meets LetterpressNicole had seen my lettering work online and was immediately drawn to my craftsmanship and skill. Nicole Phillips — a kiwi typographer, living in Australia — loves to work analogue in pencil or ink. She honours process over product, and built her business model around a practice of creative play. Nicole has always had a philosophy of working in collaboration not opposition with her peers, actively championing the work of other typographers she admires. After corresponding back and forth on social channels, a friendship between us two type enthusiasts grew - and a collaborative process was the natural next step.
