I started working for Plain Vanilla Games in 2014, where I was hired to become a Content Editor for the Educational, Business and part of the TV categories in QuizUp. That involved proofreading, creating new topics, and making sure the customers were satisfied. Soon I started being involved in partnerships the company was offered which lead me being transferred to the Business Development department where my strengths were at a better use. In the Business Development department my main role was to handle partnerships with other, bigger brands around the world. It involved me, working closely as an account manager for each brand, creating with them sponsored topics in QuizUp. My main customers were e.g. HBO (Girls, Game of Thrones & The Newsroom), Smithsonian, The Moomins and Relativity Media. I was over the Vanity Panel at Plain Vanilla. There, me and my team collected stickers for the game, where we found illustrators around the world to create a pack of 24 illustrated stickers. We were also in charge of the SWAG for our users. For the marketing launch of QuizUp 2.0 I was in charge of Celebrity Endorsement where I worked with James Franco and the amazing Youtube star, LDShadowLady. I was also in charge of Fandom Outreach. That involved long hours of research, to find the best fandoms online to bring to QuizUp as community leaders.
I decided to take one last check in on the volunteer work and started working as an event manager for the entrepreneur competition, Gulleggið which is held every year. It's where people, with great ideas get together, wonder, wander and try to make something real out of their ideas. It pushes them to the next level and will hopefully give them the knowledge they need to have for future planning of their company. I am one of those who plans the events, get the speakers to come and join in, to make sure all venues are on and that participants are satisfied.
I worked on the web for the radio station, Rás 2 & worked on projects with schedulers and radio hosts regarding media. I made sure that the up and coming music was in the radio at the time. I edited radio show's for database and for future broadcasts. This was a 3 month project.
I did artists relations for Iceland Airwaves for 2 years. I booked flights for over 300 people each year, booked them accommodation, planned ground transport to and from airport and set up a transport for the artists to sound check and show. I was in contact with managers and tour managers for all information's and scheduling. At the festival I was there for the artists if needed for any situation. I was media mama of 2013. It was great to try something new within Iceland Airwaves. I was over the media centre, managed all staff and made sure every guest of the festival was happy.
Dana set up once a month acoustic night at Three Blind Mice and created a nice atmosphere amongst fans and other friends. For each night she picked out three to four musicians to play and where they mostly indie musicians although there where some rock, punk and even a spoken word artist. Dana handled all promotion and marketing for the event and invited guests to come.
Working on projects, made press releases, rebuild the contact list, worked at events both with the company as well as with the press.
Dana's first internship was with Kimi Records. She worked on with global music distribution as well as working on various events, setting up and distributing merchandise.
I've finished all courses but have my final dissertation left. As I was hired to Plain Vanilla Games while writing I had to postpone it.
