About me

Daniel Ariza is a photographic artist based in Manchester and is currently in the final year of a BA(Hons) Photography at Manchester Metropolitan University. He predominantly draws inspiration for his work through his love for the scientific and the ability that science has, to transform what we consider to be photographic. Stepping away from the more traditional methods of photography his work explores what the photograph can become outside of the camera, and what this means to photography. During his time at university he has participated in several group exhibitions as part of the course, but has taken a major role in the presentation and organisation of these events. Danny is currently working on a project that explores the image archives held by NASA, in particular the images that make up the Lunar archives from the Apollo Missions.

  • During the final two years of my study I have worked part time at a busy sports bar on Denesgate in Manchester. A vibrant city centre pub which demands a lot of hard work to ensure that it runs smoothly. Working as part of the team is very enjoyable even during the stressful periods. We all pull together and ensure that everything runs as smoothly as possible.

  • I have worked as a general handyman lending out my service to primarily friends of family, and more recently to a wider network of people. I have learned a lot of practical skills through doing this. It is through a determination that I have for a more manual work that I have learnt these skills, and more recently I taught myself how to relay a footpath.

Teaching Assistant

Calderstones Secondary School

Sep 2014 - Aug 2015
  • Liverpool, United Kingdom
  • Full Time
  • Before I started at university I took a year out to give myself a break from education. While working at Calderstones Secondary School I learned a lot of transferable skills; from working with a wide range of people, to the presentation of art work. One of the main aspects of the job was working with pupils and assisting them with their classwork. I was also responsible for a variety of admin and organisational tasks. I thoroughly enjoy my time working here and the experience I gained. Before I started at university I took a year out to give myself a break from education. • My first job working for a company and I received a variety of training in relation to working with the public and methods of handling different customers. During the summer months, the store would become very busy and this taught me how to work under a lot of pressure.
