As a young Videographer/Photographer, I am seeking experience that is beneficial, to improving my knowledge and building a strong network. Since leaving University, I have been involved in various different projects from freelance to contract; this has allowed me to gain a valuable amount of experience as I explored different fields and genres. Since developing my skills, I have created a small production company alongside other creatives where we create projects for clients on a freelance basis. We specialise in Video, Photography and Design. We have untaken many projects in sports, music, fashion and corporate, offering a range of services from camera operating, editing, photography or even creating the whole project.
The company is an integrated communications agency, the first task was to edit a short video on behalf of HSBC, which is used on their internal server and aimed at clients and staff. Since then, I have edited other short videos for various clients.
Ragged crow is a small production company, whilst working here, l created the behind the scenes documentary for their campaign film called “Curse for Curzon”. I was also 2nd Ad and took production stills during the making of the film and also have filmed a music gig for a band called St Agnes
This was very similar to previous work experience with BBC in terms of technical ability to check through equipment that have come back from a job and make sure they are in good condition to be used again. I gained van-driving experience and knowledge of what will be included in a camera assistant role on set.
I was given the opportunity to run for Strictly Come Dancing. Considering this is my first running job, I learned an overwhelming amount of information on the industry and the ins and outs of working in a studio.
At the O2, I had to produce a promotional video for a night called ‘Treatment’. I had to collect footage throughout the night, which I then edited in Adobe Premiere. The experience was essential for building my skills within this area.
I obtained a work placement with DVSolutions, the technical support office within the BBC. My role was to make sure all equipment from cameras, lights and tripods etc were in good working order. During my time I was taught by professional mentors on how to use different cameras, e.g Canon c300 and xf 305.
