About me
I am photographer from the Medway Towns. My main body of work looks to the landscape thats closest to me, being drawn to the River Medway which splits the cluster of towns within Kent. I am also drawn to coastal communities within Britain, documenting the everyday people and places that fill these landscapes. My curiosity to document comes from an interest in archival practices and the importance of creating a record of the changing landscape. I currently work for the British Library as a Senior Imaging Technician, digitising a vast archive focused on the Gulf Region. Also collecting an archive of found vernacular photography, which both inform and inspire the visual outcomes of my work. Upon the High StreetUPON THE HIGH STREET Upon the High Street is a photography project shot in collaboration by Medway-raised artists Joshua Atkins and Daniel Loveday. This collection of images focuses on Chatham's High Street and the surrounding area, offering a raw view of the Kent town and the people that utilise the space there. • Seaside Glory |book
Seaside Glory |bookAs package holidays ebb and flow like 2p machines, baby boomers will tell you they used to be satisfied with a seaside holiday on the coast of England. These antique places of neglect have a certain acquiescence that is captured in this work – reclaiming the rust and chipped paint as part of it’s character – indicative of the people that continue to work and visit them. Concerned with holding onto their culture for as long as possible, not moving with the future; stubborn in their stoicism - sel
  • Delicate Delinquents
Delicate DelinquentsDelicate Delinquents is a body of work that observes the in-between state experienced by adolescents entering young adulthood, feelings of responsibility and identity through cultures , behaviour, style and the uniform they wear to the outside world. The collection is an account of the aesthetics choices by recycled cultures of the British youth and a comprehensive guide to their lifestyle and way of living, through a roller coaster of hormones and emotions, the highs and lows. Presenting a unique collection of portraits of distinctive individuals, their looks, their styles and their personal statements. Through capturing portraits of individuals within their natural surroundings, this work shows their tough exterior that they project when confronted, pushing the tension between the subject and the camera, breaking the false façade revealing a true image themselves. The boys are displayed in a vulnerable way which would ordinarily be denied. The work attempts to change outlooks towards a misunderstood culture.
