About me
I am animation graduate seeking to build a successful career in the creative industry, previously taking a diverse variety of roles over the years from freelance illustration and teaching, to video editing and commissioned art work. Having mostly worked as a freelancer, I have had experience working to deadlines, creating high quality content and identifying and realising clients’ visions. However, I am looking to move away from freelance work in favour of a permanent position, ideally as part of a team of like minded individuals.

    English Language InstructorNOVA
    Ota, Gunma Prefecture, JapanFull Time
In my role as a language instructor, my main responsibility was teaching English to Japanese natives of all age groups, from young children to high school students, adults and seniors. Doing so required me to develop excellent communication skills, the ability to schedule, plan and create engaging content. Strong observational skills and a keen understanding of students’ personal needs were vital in successfully communicating. Teaching in a foreign country with a huge language barrier required me to quickly adapt to the challenges of vastly different social values, customs and work culture with no prior experience in the teaching field. I valued my time working abroad, as it has given me the confidence in knowing that I'm able to overcome extremely challenging scenarios.

Video editing online promotional videos, interviews and weddings, for small local businesses as well as established brands such as Bentley. My responsibilities included general editing of footage, light correction, grading and composition as well as co-direction on a wide variety of videos. Working with clients and camera operators was an important part of ensuring the creative vision could come to life, while adhering to strict requirements and deadlines. In some cases I would also assist in filming on location, setting up equipment and shooting raw footage.

     - Norwich, United Kingdom
At NUA my main area of study was in traditional 2D hand drawn animation with a focus on character design and development, storyboarding, composition and visual narrative techniques. As part of my 3 year degree, I also studied graphic design and illustration in my first year, choosing to specialise in animation for the remaining two years. In my final year I was tasked with creating a short animated film fully independently, that would later be featured as part of the 2011 Ditto Sunrise Festival.
