About me
Hi! I am 'Super Freak' I like pink and blue. I've recently graduated from Nottingham Trent University where I studied Graphic Design. I have a huge love for illustration, printing and painting, although over the last 3 years, my course has taught me how to integrate clever design, typography and editorial skills into my work. Please feel free to have a look at my projects and get in touch if you have any thoughts or comments!
Projects
  • Music - Artwork
Music - ArtworkThis Project involves two bands that required artwork for their Album/EP launches, alongside merchandise and tour posters
  • Alice's Adventures in Wonderland
Alice's Adventures in WonderlandThis is a live brief set by Pan Macmillan, alongside YCN. The aim was to reinterpret the classic novel written by Lewis Carroll. My response for the cover design focused on the scene from the book where Alice's neck begins to grow as a result of drinking a mysterious potion. I visualised this by creating a bookmark out of her head which can be pulled out from the cover, creating the illusion of the growing neck. I was lucky enough to be selected to receive a YCN student award for this project and later went on to be awarded a special commendation on behalf of Pan Macmillan, receiving the special YCN wooden trophy, 2015
  • War Horse
War HorseThis is a competition brief set by Folio Society, to re imagine the story of War Horse. My interpretation of the novel is playful, minimal and thoughtful, selecting my scenes to illustrate carefully, in order to successfully put across the mood and pacing of the story. The illustration style is purposely playful, but bold, which contrasts well with the hard-hitting nature of the narrative and targeting its younger reading audience. All illustrations are lino printed.
  • A guide to life
A guide to lifeA guide to life is a collection of facts and advice I kindly offer to the reader! It's initial purpose is to encourage and motivate anyone and everyone, providing satirical, funny and sometimes rude answers to particular common problems. The project comes in a booklet form, where I then carried over certain illustrations and painted them on to a range of skate products/apparel such as boards & jackets.
  • This Means War.
This Means War.'This means war.' Is a wacky, illustrated book that focuses on the issues around animal welfare. To make the project slightly different, I reversed the tables, portraying a world where animals are now the brutal victors, sitting at the very top of the food chain!
  • David Bowie - Illustrated Biography
David Bowie - Illustrated BiographyThis project focuses on the colourful life and personas of David Bowie. As a response to my visual research into his fashion, music and life, I decided to hand paint a guitar, featuring a range of illustrations that relate to specific events and facts. I then extended the project by applying the illustrations to a 60 page booklet where I used my editorial skills to textualise the artwork and give the reader a deeper understanding into David Bowie's life.

I was invited to the Hallmark studio in Leeds for 2 weeks to work on a variety of greeting card ranges. Here I was given the opportunity to work amongst other illustrators in a real-life, studio environment where I gained valuable industry knowledge and expanded on my illustration skills as a result of working on fast-paced and challenging briefs
