About me
I am an experienced Web developer, used to managing projects right through the software development lifecycle. While principally a full-stack developer, with emphasis on PHP, Laravel and Wordpress at the backend, my experience with full-service agencies and tech startups has given me a skillset that, with the exception of graphic design, allows me to undertake all aspects of project development myself: initial client meetings, requirements analysis, cost estimation, planning, SEO, server build and configuration, dev ops, development, testing, deployment and handover. Skills Development: Object-oriented PHP, Laravel, Wordpress, Vue 3, Javascript, HTML, CSS, MySQL, Blade, W3C accessibility standards. Dev Ops: Git, Deployer, Packer, PHPUnit, Mix, Laravel Dusk, Vagrant, NPM, Composer, WP CLI, Bitbucket Webhooks, Bitbucket Pipelines (CI/CD), Cypress. Project management: Full systems lifecycle project management (Agile and Waterfall), SEO, Trello. Server: Solid knowledge of Linux, Bash scripting, Nginx configuration, Apache configuration, SSH, SSL/TLS. Technology-specific: Reasonable knowledge of REST APIs using Laravel, plus JWT for authentication. Experience of scripted chatbot development using botman.io. Basic knowledge of Node and Express. While I've undertaken work for a wide variety of companies, The Dots places its emphasis on creative sectors so I've only listed companies that could be considered to fall under the term 'creative'. I am currently working on three projects - a theatre app written in Laravel (but not yet launched); a general-purpose, interactive guide, aimed at the creative industries, written as a single-page application (SPA) and Progressive Web App (PWA); and an app aimed at producing interactive art (current in R&D). In my spare time I am a writer. I have had a number of short plays staged in London, plus comedy material on shows such as BBC Radio's Newsjack and The Skewer. I have written half a dozen full-length plays and am currently writing a play on David Bowie. I also write short film scripts and am currently looking for collaborators in developing them, or other scripts, into short films. Originally from Sunderland, I live and work in London.
