dillion s. phiri is a social sculptor, creative entrepreneur, filmmaker, and the Founder/CEO of Creative Nestlings: a creative network that connects and empowers young African creatives across the African continent and global diaspora.
He has a passion for working on projects, both public and private, that improve the quality of life of young Africans. Among these projects are the creation of a hub in central Johannesburg for creative entrepreneurs with a global brand, as well as the conceptual development of a mobile network for young African creatives.
A father of two, dillion understands the urgency behind development across sectors in Africa. Placing himself at the intersection of arts, culture, technology, design and commerce, dillion strategically creates value and builds community ultimately geared towards the improvement of the quality of life on the African continent and widening of access to opportunities for African youth.
Working on site-responsive work as both practitioner and entrepreneur over the last 8+ years has earned dillion the title of “social sculptor” in urbanist and design circles. His innate eye for the importance of small details in the grand design of life itself is expressed in dillion’s day-to-day. He is a keen photographer and documentarian, with his lens usually being turned on the creatives and communities around him.
When he isn’t actively creating, he can be found at the nearest local coffee shop, playing with kids, walking the city, or catching up on his favourite sport of basketball.
