Graphic Designer

The Blackstone Group LLP

Jan 2011
  • The role of Graphic Designer has evolved during the period of employment and has included; Presentation & layout work, logo creation, event & branding photography, social media & video shooting and editing. To begin, the main tasks were laying out presentations & business cards, internal brochures and working on the Blackstone 'Book of Wisdom.' Adobe InDesign & Illustrator were used for these tasks. Photography has made up a large part of the role and progressed from building passes to branding photography quickly. Blackstone internal events and external events such as the JP Morgan Corporate Run & the Women's Network night at Burberry have been shot. This led to working with the PR department to assist on Blackstone's social media campaign. The photo retouching techniques were self taught and Adobe Photoshop & LightRoom were used. Most recently video work has come to the fore. Shooting footage and the editing for internal Blackstone videos being the key tasks. The biggest task to date has been filming a series of videos with Kathryn Mewes aka "The Three Day Nanny" for the Working Parents Network. Editing of video was self taught and Song Vegas & Adobe AfterEffects were used.

Rooted in Grime music and the era in which it was born, taking influences from instances in that snapshot of London Living. The debut collection was handprinted and made in London, but this soon moved to maunfacture abroad. An initial marketing campaign on social media platforms was created to launch the brand and sell the collection. Over the next 2 years a comprehensive social media strategy was created and implemented through Instagram and Twitter, along with targeted seeding to key cultural influencers. They were identified by an inherent understanding of youth culture and the relationships are maintained and evolved to this day. Once the brand had developed a core market, garment production moved to Cut & Sew manufacturing. Working closely with manufacturers worldwide, the production process; initial design, sampling, alterations, testing, manufacturing and shipment to the UK, was co-ordinated, negotiated and managed.
