• As relief manager my role included the day to day running of the bar, the delegation of duties to staff, stock control, and administration as well as accounting. I was able to use my skills and initiative to cut administration and stock control processes by 30% whilst still delivering the high standard expected of Samuel Smith. • I chose this role for the opportunities it brought me to develop my interpersonal skills. Being in charge of a small number of staff allowed me to learn about the intricate dynamics of a service industry team and how managing this effectively creates the best possible experience for both customers and staff alike. • In my role I also undertook promotion for the brewery. As part of this I utilised my knowledge of social media to create an online presence that could reach as many potential customers as possible. We also kept close ties with the local community to further any promotional opportunities and enhance our reputation. This sometimes involved liaising with council and police for certain events.
•I delivered advice to clients and customers on behalf of Halifax and Bank of Scotland for their Ultimate Reward Current Account. Counselling customers on the terms and conditions of insurance policy and benefit schemes. Administration of certain coverage including mobile phone insurance and financial card protection. •As part of my role I would sometimes be dealing with customers in extremely stressful situations; such as when they had lost passports or documents when travelling abroad. In these circumstances my natural empathy helped me to find the most stress-free solution to their tribulations. This often involved going the extra mile to contact their local embassy or locate them a hotel for the evening. •Maintaining the Service Level Agreement arranged with Stams ltd and the Bank of Scotland or Halifax. I am still proud of my 98% customer satisfaction whilst eloquently dealing with complaints and customer comments.
•I worked through the Christmas season at Disneyland to ensure that the “Disney Magic" was kept alive, this meant being upbeat and positive at all times- providing the ultimate customer experience! •I worked to strict deadlines to guarantee that choreography, character animation and costume were completed to the extremely high standard the customers expect from the Disney Corporation. •Working as part of a team to manage customer relations and ensure that all guests received an excellent level of consumer experience. I particularly enjoyed working with the Make a Wish Foundation to ensure the last experiences of these families were as special as they possibly could be- which means always going the extra mile. •I was offered a permanent contract on completion of this period but felt continuing in this role would not offer me the career progression I needed.
These have centered on the history of distribution in the creative industry. I have looked at innovative start-ups in business, examined marketing promotion and media trends over the past five years. This experience has compounded my ability to work to strict deadlines and given me direct insight on the benefit of liaising with industry professionals to develop my analytical research skills. This has furthered my insight and creativity within the field.
