About me
Inspired by botanical structures from both a photographic and scientific perspective. By visiting locations in and around Glasgow such as the Royal Botanic Gardens and Glasgow Botanic Gardens. Gathering primary photographs and participating in on-site drawings of organic structures furthered my insight into my chosen subject. Using digital media and traditional drawing techniques I have generated spliced imagery which communicates an innovative aesthetic of the natural world. These, in turn, gave me an abundance of texture, colour and shape like qualities allowing me to translate these into fabrics. In reflecting the divide between the traditional and digital qualities of my research, the collection explores the possibilities to be had through classic weaving techniques and modern jacquard sampling respectively.
