Hi! I am a teacher working in a primary school in East London. I have been through a bit of a career journey since graduating and have had a taste of lots of different careers. I have always been a very creative individual but having been brought up in a traditional, Indian family home, I always felt I should try and do the 'right' thing. Law or medical school were never going to be an option for me so I thought maybe I'll try finance. I soon worked out that that too was not an option for me and so I thought, well, I am a people person, I enjoy giving back to the community and I love a challenge and so Teach First fell on to my lap. Mum and Dad felt being a teacher was a reputable career and so I began teaching. I have had the most fun teaching. It is so rewarding working with children of all ages and inspiring them to be creative and to give them a solid platform to go on and achieve whatever they want. My fondest memories of school are being told stories and then going on to write creative literature of my own. I encourage the children to 'paint with words' and often combine my love of Art with creative writing. I have ensured I have taken a more artistic role within the school (directing the Art department and overseeing all Art schemes of work). Although my careers have taken various different avenues, one thing that has remained consistent is my love of art and photography. I have had a constant battle in my mind as to whether I should break the mould and try taking this on full time but I have a constant fear about whether or not this is a sensible idea. Wherever I go, I take photos. My photos mainly are of people and I believe each photo I take can tell a story. I like to retain memories and emotions of people. Joining The Dots will hopefully allow me to be inspired by other like-minded individuals so that I can one day take the plunge and embark on photography as a full-time career.
