  • Modern Muses of Cinema - Issue 1: The Alternative Manic Pixie Dream Girl
Modern Muses of Cinema - Issue 1: The Alternative Manic Pixie Dream GirlModern Muses of Cinema is an experimental zine that explores different depictions of femininity and beauty through the filmic lens. Issue 1: The Alternative Manic Pixie Dream Girl focuses on one such depiction. Examples of the alternative manic pixie dream girl are represented inside- the lead protagonist’s romanticised notions of them on the outside pages, and the muses rejections of them on the inside. This zine uses a variety of folding techniques, laser cut holes and book screws to bind.
  • Signified: Objects + Props in Film
Signified: Objects + Props in FilmSignified is a publication that presents and discusses the powerful roles props and set design play in film. The book draws upon semiotic theory as a basis, and discusses the significance of five objects from five different films: Pan’s Labyrinth, The Grand Budapest Hotel, Blade Runner, American Beauty and Pulp Fiction. The other component of Signified is a collection of five significant spaces within four alternative films, The Cube, The Shining, American Psycho, and two spaces from Fight Club. The book also contains five unique interviews from academic and creative professionals alike on their favourite props in film. Perfect bound book, 140 pages, GF Smith Electric Blood screenprinted white cover.
  • Eleventh - Fine Art Degree Show Visual Identity & Publication
Eleventh - Fine Art Degree Show Visual Identity & PublicationThis summer I was asked to design the BA (Hons) Fine Art/Art & Visual Culture Degree Show visual identity and publication. The concept of the show’s name ‘Eleventh’ came from the fact that the show will be Spike Island’s eleventh UWE degree show. With so much attention on the tenth, the committee felt that their own show should be considered no less a mark of celebration. The ‘Eleventh’ will be another show in a long line of others and no less important. We chose to use the visual device of a tally chart to mark this fact. It is sequential and a universal means to communicate 11. The isolated marker on the end accentuates the theme of the Eleventh being just as special.

Work history

    Junior Graphic Designer
     - Bristol, United KingdomInternship
I undertook a one month internship at Intellect publishers, supporting the in-house senior graphic designer with the workload. My role included designing various book covers, posters, leaflets, some photography for their social media, email banners, and generally corresponding with other members of staff for small and larger jobs that needed to be done. I also learnt how to work to existing brand guidelines which was a valuable lesson to have learnt. Working at Intellect gave me a sense of what working as an in-house designer would be like compared to working in a studio environment. It gave me the opportunity to see how a publishing company runs on a daily basis as well. I was able to sit in on several meetings across departments.
