- Live Project from VanderhurdI developed this collection as part of a live brief for bespoke interior company Vanderhurd. The inspiration comes from stylistic art deco design and a visit I made to a butterfly farm in Stratford-upon-Avon. An advanced stitch workshop fed much of the technical development, and informed some of the visual aspects of the collection too.
- Live Project from Nicholas OakwellThis collection was designed for a live brief set by Nicholas Oakwell Couture. The centenary of World War II lead me to research this historic event, where I discovered the starkly painted battle ships. They were painted in bold, striking patterns as a defensive mechanism; in a similar way a zebras stripes disorientate a predator, these ships patterns could give the appearance of being a different size or traveling in a different direction. A couture collection demanded the use of high quality materials combined with a skilled use of technical processes. Glass beads are woven together with silk crochet and add trims to shibori dyed silks.
- The Goddesses Jewellery BoxDevi is believed to be the power at the centre of Hindu Goddesses, it is Sanskrit for the Devine. The use of metal and glass, strong materials, alludes to the strength of Devi, and of the women who would wear these. The shapes and patterns reflect religious architecture of temples and cathedrals, elevating the strong woman to a goddess.
