  • A creative and multi-dimensional project combining teaching and film. Students were native Arabic speakers who were encouraged to write creatively in English using a combined study of contextual references (e.g. William Blake poems) with introductory courses on the structures of creative writing (similes and metaphors, etc). They produced their own creative writing pieces to present in the final lesson. The project was filmed and the footage and research contributed toward my MA dissertation, submitted 29th August 2017. The link to the final film is available on request.

Newly acquired skills and experience involved: Learning how to manage, describe, write for and catalogue the photography collection: a niche collection of old photographs and postcards documenting the history of Bermuda. I acquired the skill of learning how to manage photographs professionally, and how to catalogue them according to date and theme. Being involved in the administration, organisation and collection of display items for a locally prestigious exhibition – ‘The Charman Prize 2012’ – an annual Bermudian exhibition of local artists’ work in which a prize winner is selected, and other categories (e.g. ‘Best newcomer’) are nominated. It was the first time that I’d been professionally involved in the organisation behind an exhibition. I also gained a greater insight into the practice of valuing an artwork.
