Ever since the first induction into the hot glass workshop, I have fallen in love with the material. I love the fluidity of hot glass and the control required to work with it. I particularly enjoy allowing the material to dictate the form of the pieces in a natural way. I also find the effect colour can have on the form of a piece extremely interesting. The form of these pieces has been developed through experimenting with layering different colours both solid, and frit, to see how it affects the final form.
Work history
Workshop Assistant
London, United KingdomInternship
I spent four weeks in total in London working with the team at London Glassblowing, two weeks in August 2016 and two further weeks in April 2017. I assisted in the production of commissions and gallery pieces as well as being given the opportunity to make something for myself for the upcoming degree show. The glassblowers at London helped me greatly to develop my current skills. I also had the opportunity to get some paid work with Louis Thompson developing a new series of his work.
