My name is Ellie Davis and I am a student at the University of Nottingham. I study English and French. I have always been interested in the Journalism and Fashion industries and having previously worked at Vogue Paris, Vanity Fair and Glamour, I would welcome the opportunity to broaden my passion. I am hard working, keen to learn, enthusiastic, very organised and sociable.
Whilst interning at Vanity Fair, I helped out with the researching, writing and promotion of the A List, the English counterpart to the American site. I assisted the advertising team and completed administration work for the entire team.
At Glamour, I fulfilled on the role as PA to the Editor-in-Chief. In addition, I had the opportunity to write for the website, with one of my articles achieving over 700 likes on Facebook. I also assisted the advertising and editorial teams through researching and transcribing.
Whilst interning at Vogue Paris, I was part of a small translating team converting French editorial content into English, making it comprehensible and readable for a global audience. I uploaded my articles on to the site using the in-house tool, uploaded show photos and ran the social media channels including Twitter and Facebook, which had an outreach of over 4.8 million people. Whilst at Tess'Art Communications, I created a contact database of journalists and potential clients, I created invitations and sent them out for upcoming clients press days, I translated press releases from English to French and vice-versa and I attended press events on behalf of the company.
For the children's clothing shop, I organised stock, produced online orders, helped with shipping stock abroad, assisted in photoshoots, helped out the buyers with material selection and used EPOS and ENRICHMENT files for data entry of next seasons products.
During my time at Look magazine, I assisted in photo shoots, price checks, contacting press offices, attended press events for new products, increased my knowledge of the fashion industry as well as practising my writing skills where my work was featured on www.look.com.
Assisted in the filming of BBC’s Panorama on immigration by working as a runner, scribing interviews and learning and using the technology used to edit the documentary, which aired on 10th February 2014.
Spent time as an intern at the CBS news office in London. This included shadowing a news reporter focusing on the American angle of the Jimmy Saville scandal and the Arabic correspondent who translated Arabic news channels and blogs written by Al-Queda.
