About me
Eloise Harvey is a Fashion Textile designer specialising in hand embroidery, CAD embroidery and fabric manipulation. Eloise finds inspiration from nature, art and photography to begin drawing and then translates these ideas into surface designs for fabrics. Exploring interesting, bold combinations of colour to create fashion fabric designs is a key element of her designs, giving them a strong impact. Also using a wide range of materials and threads that react to the surface design techniques in different ways creates collections that are varied and makes each design unique.
Projects
  • Romeo and Juliet
Romeo and JulietIn this project I took imagery from the 1996 Baz Luhrman Romeo and Juliet film and transferred the imagery in to a fabric collection using processes such as, CAD embroidery, hand embroidery, laser cut, printing and manipulation. I aimed to create a lively collection of fashion fabrics that reflect such exciting scenery and transforms traditional designs in to a modern perspective. I used a variety of materials that are both structured and flowing like the digital prints on the front of this postcard which worked well with the techniques and combined a romantic style with a more futuristic, innovative one
  • Rejuvenation
RejuvenationMy final major project at University , ‘Rejuvenation,’ is based on Art Nouveau design, this project takes inspiration from plants and animals to create bold, natural organic shapes. Imagery was taken from places such as, the living rainforest, Japanese gardens and Kew gardens, which aided drawing and design development throughout. While exploring traditional Art Nouveau characteristics of design, contemporary embroidery techniques, bold colours and interesting fabrics rejuvenate the style to give it a unique twist for a high end womenswear A/W fabric fashion collection. CAD embroidery, hand embroidery, fabric manipulation, applique, digital and heat press print were used to create this collection and compliment eachother to create exciting dimensions to explore for fashion

I worked alongside a small group of designers amending samples, organising the studio and assisted in making embroidery designs on photoshop. It was a valuable experience to see how a small textiles business runs, working in a team.

My role consisted of preparing samples for clients and creating moodboards. It was interesting to experience how an interior design business runs in comparison to fashion showing the versatility of textiles
