About me

I am a reliable, hard-working, proactive individual, with a creative mind-set and a meticulous eye for detail. I hold two degrees in literature, an MA (Merit) from University College London in Comparative Literature and a BA (Upper Second Class) in English Literature, from Queen Mary, University London. My studies have enabled me to develop acute, critical and analytical skills necessary for researching and creating vibrant, engaging pieces of written work, as well as affording me the ability to identify and write in depth about prominent issues in arts and culture. Described as elegant, engaging and clear, my written work has been referred to as ‘a pleasure to read’, with original and learned vocabulary. Throughout my academic and professional career I have worked well with others, as well as independently from my own initiative, relying on self motivation and careful time management.  I have a passion for travel and experiencing different cultures. I have just returned from travelling Central and South America and California, before moving to Australia to live, work and travel for one year. I have a strong command of the english language and I enjoy putting this to good use writing engaging copy, but I have a lot more to offer. In previous roles I have won awards for outstanding customer service as well as awards for performance and lead generation, as well as this I have experience in communications, management, events promotion, data capture and administration, and I am computer literate While in Australia, I worked as an Assistant Editor at a finance magazine KangaNews, as well as briefly in a marketing and sales role. In the UK, my most recent role was as a Managing Editor at a Publishing company in Cheltenham. As Managing Editor at Perendale Publishers I demonstrated my ability to work as part of a team in order to help bring the two trade magazines from strength to strength. My role was ostensibly to write and commission editorial for the magazines and build key relationships with our advertisers and their communications and editorial departments. I continued to help Perendale reach a wider audience through the shared management of social media channels and in weekly meetings where we would strategise how to reach a wider audience and gain more advertisers. I also worked closely with the CEO on a number of conferences and events which were held at major trade shows in Indonesia and Thailand. I went to Thailand to help our CEO run Perendale’s conference and present our award for technological innovation at the trade shows’ an- niversary dinner. I also worked alongside the CEO on another of Perendale’s conferences which was to be held in China, helping with budgetary concerns and contacting speakers for the conference. Additionally, I was invited to visit one of our major advertisers for their 25th Anniver- sary ‘Media Jam’ in St. Louis, Missouri, to report on their progress and their future ambitions. I am computer literate and have proven administration skills. While working in financial administration my computer literacy increased and I am very well versed in Microsoft Office Packages, Mainframe Software and Document Management Systems. In addition, within my first six months of employment, I achieved the Top Performer Award for consistent and outstanding performance in the areas of quality, productivity, attendance and behaviours and I was voted by my peers to receive the award for Outstanding Customer Service. Prior to this I was an intern at the Communications department in Local Government where I developed and honed skills relating to press and publicity, as well as collating data from an internal communications survey looking at how to develop and better our communication initiatives.  Formulating new ideas and and developing them, either alone or within a team, is something I have a great deal of experience in. I am dependable, adaptable and loyal, forever keen to make a good impression and I work hard to ensure that what I turn my hand to is of the best of my ability. I am ambitious and I really want to expand my career in the creative industry, learning new skills and contributing new and fresh ideas. I really believe I would be an asset to your company.
