Customer service is always at the heart of the job. Other duties include: implementing company VM; replenishing stock; voicing promotions and encouraging online sales via the company iPads. I left the company November 2015, prioritising my 3rd year studies for my degree, however I have recently returned as a Summer Temp.
Alongside individual projects, daily roles included: curating and editing content for the blog and social media; competitor analysis; generating promotional ideas; sourcing materials; researching locations for events and assisting the creative team on video and photo shoots.
Working in a team environment and sharing the load (often literally). From selecting stock and dressing mannequins to working in the windows and creating original displays for a private event, tasks were always varied.
Work involved: manual labour, setting up and clearing out the venue (The Music Room); meeting customers‘ demands; general upkeep of tidiness and tackling any other requests set by my managers.
Organisation and accuracy whilst working quickly and under pressure were essential. Working for Next at such a peak period for the company offered me an intensive and accelerated insight into fashion retail.
A day of working on my feet in a fast paced environment, attending to the 50,000 people enjoying the Kasabian gig at Summer Solstice in Leicester's Victoria Park. Working accurately and with a smile on my face was key. I used my initiative and went the extra mile when problems arose.
My responsibilities included: maintaining a friendly and positive attitude for the customers; constant awareness of merchandise and stock control; general organisation; handling large amounts of cash and problem-solving. I was frequently assigned sole responsibility for the shop in absence of my managers, as I was exceptionally well trusted.
