About me
Fashion Design Graduate, Arts University Bournemouth, 2018 I have an infatuation with colour, I already feel like it is a trademark for my work. Continuously inspired by nature and its beauty but in particular the ocean; it is a fascination that takes me back to my childhood and something that gives me the drive and inspiration needed to create my designs. My design process involves a variety of mediums from painting, collaging, photography, weave, drawing and screen printing to create expressive print designs. I am constantly observing my surroundings to help inform my projects. Having an understanding of garment manufacture is an invaluable practise, it has taught me how to make successful textiles for fashion. Yet it is specifically print design that I am eager to develop. Creating innovative, bold textiles and contrasting colour palettes to appeal to various customer markets is something that I get excited by. My customer is unpredictable. Facing new challenges to develop my skill set is really important to me and I enjoy meeting new people so please get in touch!
Projects
  • Abstract Animal Prints
Abstract Animal PrintsWhilst interning at JRC London, one of the main themes I wanted to focus on was the 'abstract' animal print idea, which has been and is continuing to grow as a trend in 2019. Here are some of the prints created for the collection AW19.
  • Floral collections
Floral collectionsThis selection of floral prints are a development of my time spent at JRC London. The most popular type of print at the company was the floral, therefore seemed like the best place to start in order to progress my repeat print skills.
  • 'Out of Sight, Out of Mind'
'Out of Sight, Out of Mind'This competition brief was for the Hand & Lock Prize for embroidery. Inspired by my love for the ocean, I wanted to highlight the importance of the corals in our oceans that are continuously being destroyed, unless we start to take care of our oceans. The first three prints are my interpretations of corals before they have been turned into their skeletal selves, named 'Camo corals' the shapes within the prints naturally disperse in growth across the print, with layered corals from research over

Having created a 5 outfit collection strongly influenced by textiles found in tribal communities in Burkina Faso, I decided my path would be headed more towards a textiles for fashion route. Yet, learning the skills of a pattern cutter have proven to be invaluable, it is crucial to understand why a print might need to be placed in a certain area on the pattern piece.

During this course I discovered the path I wanted to go down. However, I struggled to decide between textiles and Fashion design. Having always loved textiles I wanted to challenge myself further into working on creative pattern cutting. I begin to do this on my foundation course, with the added utilising of textiles.
