I am currently part of the Managed Contracts team and am the primary point of contact within the department for a number of our public sector clients. An important part of my role is building relationships with these clients, customers and colleagues in different areas of the business, proposing creative improvements to current processes, and ensuring KPI targets are met.
Whilst continuing with the role of Optical Assistant I took on the additional role of Marketing Assistant in 2013, to help identify volume-driving opportunities for the Hucknall branch of Specsavers as well as to boost my own personal development in this area. I assisted with various PR events in the local community, ensured all POS and marketing materials in store were relevant and up-to-date, and analysed the success of our marketing campaigns by monitoring the return of promotional vouchers to store. A crucial part of my role was building and maintaining strong relationships with third parties, and the creation and maintenance of a monthly marketing plan.
This was a customer-facing role in a professional retail environment which gave me the opportunity to develop my communication skills immeasurably. My main responsibilities included customer management, contact lens demonstrations, MARSing (Merchandising and Replenishment System), frame styling, dispensing and pre-testing patients before their main sight test. Pre-testing involved testing patients' visual fields (FDT), intra-ocular pressure (IOP) and digital retinal photography. I also took part in training workshops with both a clinical and commercial focus, and trained new members of the team on a one-to-one basis.
As a print assistant my main responsibilities were collating and quality control. It was my job to compile the printed material and ensure it was ready to be sent out to the customer on time. This could only be done after performing a series of strict quality checks to ensure that all parts of the product were completed to the highest standard.
