About me
My work is inspired by mid century modern aesthetics and Scandinavian design. Asymmetric form, colour and pattern develop through collage and drawing. The influence of vintage textiles, household objects and materials combine to help me create pieces that evolve through experimentation. Currently working in heavy brick clays and terracottas to create semi functional sculptural vessels. I use modular wooden moulds inspired by architectural concrete formwork surfaces and have also started experimenting with clay from my own back garden.
Projects
  • Iceberg Serveware
Iceberg ServewareFine china tableware inspired by the textural surfaces of Tapio Wirkkala glassware and created using cardboard and tape maquettes as moulds. Produced for a project brief for Dudson in 2018. The complete range was made up of a series of dishes/plinth-style platters which were designed to be used either way up as part of a fine dining experience.
  • Lockdown Garden Clay Vessels
Lockdown Garden Clay VesselsTwo 'modernist neolithic' vessels created using clay from my parents' garden during the lockdown of 2020. Through minimal processing of the freshly dug clay, the textural surface emphasises the raw, natural quality of the material.
