Working at Squared Roots as the Directors Assistant for fifteen months developed my administration and organisation skills, as I was independently responsible for answering phone calls and emails in a professional and friendly manner. I ensured that I gave great customer service at all times and carefully replied to emails concerning new enquires, and always communicated important information to the director. My responsibilities at Squared Roots also entailed showing new clients around the screen-printing studio to exhibit different examples of are work. Using Quickbooks I regularly created accurate invoices and ensured they were swiftly sent out to the correct clients. Developing and maintaining good working relationships with the companies we sourced our products from was also an important part of my role. For example, I regularly communicated with the local printing company ‘Hobbs printing service’ in regards to the particular acetates we required. I also developed skills in the artistic and technical side of the screen-printing process. Ensuring I carried out my tasks thoroughly when assisting the director was paramount as my role was to expose the screen correctly, set up the screen in an accurate position for printing and heat press the t-shirt to complete the product. It was my sole responsibility to ensure the screen and clothing preparation tasks were carried out correctly, whilst also working efficiently to meet deadlines, to make certain the printing was successful.
