About me
Born and raised in Hong Kong, Erin Tse moved to the UK for her further Education in 2009. She completed her degree in Performance Design and Practice at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design in 2016. Erin has been working closely on a stop-motion short film, Something Mouldy, for the last 3 years as the production designer with Dye-Montefiore Productions (https://www.dyemontefiore.co.uk/). Erin’s passion and dedication to the film - producing story boards, conceptual drawings, designing and making sets - has led to an extraordinary collaboration on a ground-breaking clay animation that will be released in Summer 2017. As a London-based set designer specialising in film and theatre, Erin brings narratives to life; taking her viewers on a journey through a kaleidoscope of imaginary worlds, reconnecting them to their primal desires, fears, dreams, and memories. As an artist, not only does she wish to satiate people’s ardent hunger for fantasy, it is also her goal and passion to share her cultural heritage with the world and to present it from an authentic and fresh perspective, creating a bridge of understanding between cultures. Erin is also a multidisciplinary artist. Through her work, she rediscovers her childhood memories and emotional landscape, reconnecting herself with her own culture.

Funded by Kickstarter in 2013, Something Mouldy (working title) is a 30-minutes stop-motion animation created by Dye-Montefiore Production. The viewers are transported to an old provincial town in the Pyrenean mountains to discover a community whose insatiable lust for cheese forms the basis of an absurd fairytale, exploring themes of addiction, desire and human frailty. It is a tale of lust, greed and gluttony. Treasuring the beauty of traditional craftsmanship, the film emphasised on using no CGI or any digital effects in the process of making - from the every little bricks on the fireplace to the birds flying into the distance, everything were hand crafted. Erin designed and made most of the set in the film with meticulous attention to detail. She is also the Assistant Director, Concept Artist, Storyboard Artist and Scenic Artist.
