About me
Eun Lee is a digital artist who is interested in electronic sculptures, interactive performances and robot technology. Taking references from nature and unfamiliar parts of the world and reimagining them using digital and electronic forms, her works investigate and explore recurrent themes such as interactions and communications between works and audience. After studying Communication Design at Samsung Art and Design Institute in 2009, she worked for D'strict, the digital design company in Korea as a digital contents planner and production manager. From 2009 to 2014 she participated in many new media contents productions and theme park planning's. This included the world's first digital theme park full of interactive attractions like holographic performances and augmented reality contents in Everland, the biggest theme park in Korea. Since 2014, she has been studying computational art at Goldsmiths University of London.
Projects
  • Spirit of Soho
Spirit of SohoThe video concept for my Spirit of Soho application demonstrating how the artwork will appear when it is in motion. Location 2: The Garage Soho <Description> Four nylon balloons inflate and deflate like a breathing organism and together they create a unified dance with the wind from the fans. At the same time, the lights colour of balloons changes along with the movement. During the day time the LED lights inside the balloons will be visible but at night the will be much brighter and clearer.
  • Apparatus Tentaculata 2
Apparatus Tentaculata 2.This work represents how we as humans can feel empathy for an unfamiliar machine-creature through familiar gestures like breathing, touching and viewing an emotional response to stimuli in the form of dancing lights. *This work is a upgraded version of Apparatus Tentaculata 1. Interactive tentacles - if you touch the tentacles(1-10), the LED colour changes.

  • 'Life Valley', Samsung Life sponsor lounge
'Life Valley', Samsung Life sponsor lounge‘Life Valley’ is a sponsor lounge of Samsung Life Insurance which is located in the entrance of Everland’s safari tour ‘Lost Valley’. ‘Life Valley’ consists of attractions for visitors’ enjoyment, and I was involved in the proposal of ‘Life Valley’ as well as the production of two main attractions. Details of existing products were customized for the installment in ‘Live Valley’. As reviews were very positive, it raised Samsung Insurance’s interest in digital attractions. The ‘animal mode’ was especially popular so additional installments were made in nearby locations.
