About me
My work borders that of sculpture and textiles, thinking outside the box to bring a contemporary approach to the embellishment of surface and structure, whilst retaining the influence of traditional techniques. The work is currently aimed at the decorative interior object market both public and domestic, as well as wearable sculpture for the body. My chosen techniques are that of experimental Goldwork and Stumpwork embroidery adapted into three-dimensional forms showcasing that embroidery can embellish hard interior objects, and is not just restricted to soft furnishings or fashion. As well as contemporising traditional embroidery techniques, I also adopt non-conventional mediums to embroider and crochet with to give my work an original aesthetic. This includes crocheting with various types of wire to give structure and three-dimensionality to the pieces.
