I am a third year undergrad student studying Fashion Marketing at the University of Southampton (Winchester school of art). I am highly driven and motivated, with a strong interest in PR. From my time at university and completing various industry internships, i have gained a vast knowledge on the PR sector and what skills are required to progress in this area.
During my time at TOM FORD i worked within the PR department dealing with press samples, publication requests and VIP gifting. I took up the role as a PR assistant and insured the department ran smoothly whilst my superiors were away on business trips. The role enabled me to be independent. I found working with a team in a different time zones challenging, however it allowed me to use my initiative and push myself. Alongside Working for the PR team i also assisted TOM FORDS personal assistant. Working side by side allowed me to gain great knowledge about the brand and gave me incredible insight into how the company is formed. Jobs i was expected to complete included: - PR samples - Publication requests - Stylist requests - DMR / reviewing and tagging publications for coverage - Organising samples - steaming/hanging/logging - Handling returns - Administrative duties including: Printing, scanning, logging, emailing - Running errands for Mr Ford - Assisting the showroom manager with tasks such as logging samples.
Helping out with the PR during a third year event 'Fashion Feast'. Winchester school of art worked with Surgery PR making sure the event ran smoothly and efficiently. Job role included: - Greeting guest and signing them in (front of house) - Insuring all guests are correctly seated - Communicating with other parties to insure everything was set up securely - supporting other members of the team to insure everything was running on time.
I worked at Hello! Fashion Monthly for a week helping out in the fashion cupboard. I organised the clothes ready to be shot and returned, sorted through paper work promptly in order for items to be delivered on time and insured all PR companies received correct items when returning.
Modules include: Fashion promotion, Fashion communication, Digital marketing, Strategic Marketing, Creative branding, Research and communication skills, Critical writing. Final Major Project: Will micro-influencers be used going forward, or will the macro-influencer stay dominant and relevant in the future of marketing. - Digital marketing has enabled me to build upon my digital skills using programmes such as the adobe suite. It has allowed me to grow a strong digital portfolio of work using photography, graphics, styling, creative writing and media. - Group projects required strong communication throughout and allowed me to have individual responsibility, whilst still cooperating and taking on others ideas. - Each module has allowed me to gain strong research and writing skills, which can be applied to any job. - Fashion Promotion, communication and strategic marketing has enabled me to put together strategies and campaigns that allow me to think creatively.
