PR and Marketing AssistantKat Maconie
- London, United KingdomInternship
Kat Maconie gave me the opportunity to manage the Press and PR side of the company as they did not have a current in-house or agency PR team. I created my own database of contacts, constructed emails, handled telephone communication and curated press releases. I formed relationships with press and helped with gifting influencers and Brand Ambassadors. Other roles included; assisting with all aspects of the new concept store, arranging and promoting the sample sale, creating customer and neighbour invite lists, supporting customer service responsibilities, aiding brand manager with various tasks and keeping track of warehouse stock levels.

Events and Communications Assistant InternStella & Dot
- London, United KingdomInternship
Originally taking on the role of ‘events intern’, this led to an extended internship and an increase of responsibilities throughout different departments. A large part of my job role fell within the communications department, I was trusted and expected to build relationships with the community of over 3,000 stylists through social media; curating live videos, social media posts and competitions. Handling phone calls, welcoming new stylists weekly, attending meetings with EU team and tracking charity donations. As well as planning events by negotiating prices, finding venues, coordinating invitations, tracking attendees and confirmations then giving feedback to the appropriate HQ teams, I also attended and helped to host the events. I aided the operations team and managed all European office orders.

Fashion and Textiles Specialism: Merit
During the Foundation I developed my drawing style, especially fashion illustrations. I experimented with conceptual idea development and learnt how to use a range of materials, applied through various approaches. My time-management improved and I learnt that I work well under pressure. I am continually developing garment construction skills, inspired by the likes of Hussein Chalayan who's skilled pattern cutting and draping techniques make his collections unique and contemporary. I enjoy working in sketchbooks and setting myself projects. I admire Elsa Schiaparelli's surrealist and daring elements of her work. I am also fascinated by how fashion has evolved since then with technical fabric developments, I feel Iris van Herpen's collections are an insight into the future of fashion.
