I am an experienced Project Manager who has been working as a freelance Art Director on large-scale commercial productions for the past five years. My studies specialised in concept development, something I enjoy and am extremely comfortable with. I am used to preparing storyboards and pitches for clients at short notice as well as managing big budgets and overseeing projects from development to delivery.
On childhood holidays I carved wooden boats with my grandfather, making sails out of handkerchiefs. This is where my love for making beautiful things began. Many years and little boats later I studied Design for Performance at Central Saint Martins.
During my degree I assisted internationally recognised Performing Arts Designers - Robert Wilson and Theun Mosk amongst others; working on major exhibitions and international productions. I chose my studies because of the diverse possibilities it had to offer, learning a great range of skills including model-making, scenic painting, design conceptualisation and more.
As an Art Director I’ve worked on events and product launches for numerous high-profile clients such as the Rugby World Cup, Uniqlo, Dr Martens, Johnnie Walker, Smirnoff and Asos. For these productions I collaborated and commissioned work by great craftspeople; pattern cutters, embroiderers and woodworkers to name a few. In addition to this, I have extensive ground-level experience working with craftspeople in workshops.
I am a confident user of Adobe CS11, Excel, Word, Powerpoint. I learned CAD at University, but have since used SketchUp.
From 2011 till 2015 I was Committee Member for the Society of British Theatre Designers and Editor in Chief for the SBTDS' news letter.
