Francesca Pich was born on the 03/06/1990 and always tries to do her best in digital animator or anything related to creativity. She attended an Art School in La Spezia, and she graduated (Bachelor’s Art Degree – 3 years) at The Academy of Fine Arts in Milan, Course of New Technologies of Art, with the final grade of 110/110. The title of her thesis was “The italian animation cinema. Story of a missed occasion”. At the moment she has just graduated from a MA degree in Character Animation, at Central Saint Martins, in London. Based in London, but wiling to move anywhere, Francesca has now three years of experience as animator, and she developed a skill in learning software very quickly, due to her multimedia background. Among other software, Francesca knows how to use most of the Adobe Suite (between 3 and 10 years experience depending on the software) and she can easily animate both with Flash (Symbols or traditional) and After Effects. Other animation software she can use at a professional level are TvPaint and Celaction. Francesca made three animated movies with Celaction, and she rigged most of the characters herself. She was very keen in getting suggestions from professionals and to experiment to find a way to make her character work as she wanted to. She also experimented a lot with several features of Celaction, including limber, path and effects, and she found a good combination for her characters to make them look more professional. Her animation “Bloody Job” was selected and screened at the One Minute Festival in the Swiss town of Aarau (2015), (WINNER) at the One Minute Stories, Cinevana London (2015), (HONORABLE MENTION) at the Just a Minute Festival 2015 (Online Festival with awards, USA), at the Kinolit Film Festival 2015 (Online Festival with awards, Russia), 60SIFF Pakistan 2016 Her Graduation movie "Orbit" was selected at the AnimaSyros in Cyclades Islands, Greece (2015), Qabila Short Film Festival in Cairo, Egypt (2015), The World Animation Celebration (Hosted by Sony Pictures Animation) in Culver City, California, USA (2015), Chinese American Film Festival in West Covina, California, USA (2015), Estilhacos Leiria, Portugal (2015), Aakruti-My Creation, Mumbai, India (2015), Chester Animation Festival, Chester, Uk (2016), CMS International Children Film Festival India (2016) Contact number 07774495368
Animation for BBC Bitesize
I am currently doing an internship at the animation studio called Howow, in London, and my role are very various, depending on the needs. So far I have done Character Design, Flash Animation with symbols for a children serie called “Fantastic Phonics”, After Effects Animation, Compositing and Photoshop Animation/ Clean Up.
I was selected to be one of the first collaborators for this greeting cards website.
The English National Opera commissioned our class to make a short animation inspired by the play "The Indian Queen", by Purcell. I worked as animator and rigger in a team of four people, with Charlie Tetlow as director
The Old Operating Theatre commissioned our class to create a short animation inspired by one of the objects in the museum. My animation was officially selected at the One Minute Festival Aarau, Switzerland, 2015
I helped with the colouring in a few sequences of a frame by frame flash animation for a film festival. The colouring included some lights and shadow, which had to have a follow through in each of the frames. I did three sequences of a lenght between 60 and 200 frames, experiencing how to create shades and how to follow a color palette.
I collaborated (without any income since this is a No Profit Journal) with the online journal Massacritica. I worked mostly as writer, focusing my articles on art related arguments, like animation cinema, new media and art technologies. For some of my articles I went to conventions and meetings with influent people like the Dalai Lama, Carlo Ratti and Ben Casnocha. I created the animation of the logo, which is in the “Who we are” section, and a winter animation which is not on the website anymore.
I worked for two months as book translator, and I translated a photography book from english to italian language. Thanks to this work I improved my knownledge about the english language, learning new words and sentences. I also learned a bit more about lighting in photography due to the subject the book was about.
I previously collaborated in a few occasions with this web agency, using software like Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Flash, that is why I asked to attend an internship by them. During this internship I had several roles, like contents' creator using HTML and Wordpress, graphic designer, video and photo editor and flash animator. I worked with different software, sometimes for the first time, showing I was able to learn quickly. The main software I used were: Adobe Flash, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop and Proshow Producer.
