As Senior Scrum Master in the Connected Products department, my responsibilities were: • Managing three cross-functional teams assigned to the delivery of both front-end applications and back-end API layers. The team comprises developers, testers and designers. • Coaching two junior Scrum Masters • Managing dependencies with other Tesco teams responsible for the development of applications such as Groceries, Tesco Bank, Blinkbox, Club Card, Tesco Photo Key achievements: • End-to-end delivery of My Tesco, which is both the launcher for Hudl 2 applications and the container for all Tesco services available on the tablet (e.g.: Groceries, Tesco Bank, Blinkbox) • Delivery of the REST API layer that serves all the tablet native apps (My Tesco, Child Safety, Demo Mode, Get Started, Top Apps) • Established a release management process used for all the Hudl 2 apps and API releases into Production
As Scrum Master and Line Manager in the Strategic IP - OTT Platform department I was responsible for: • Line management, recruitment, performance evaluation and career development of 15 direct reports • Driving all the Scrum ceremonies, such as planning meetings, daily stand-ups, showcases and retrospectives for two separate teams of Developers, Testers and DevOps Engineers • Coaching the team so to ensure that Agile best practices like Pair Programming, Test Driven Development, Behavior Driven Development and Continuous Integration/Deployment were established and constantly applied • Promoting continuous process improvements within the team to increase productivity and achieve consistent velocity • Liaising with Product Leaders, Program Directors and Change/Operations Managers • Managing a 24/7 production support team • Coordinating the activities of third party consultants and suppliers • Managing the team budget Key achievements: • Recruited and established from scratch two teams, for a total of 15 members, that comprised Developers, Functional/Integration/Performance Testers and a Business Analyst. The teams were responsible for the design and development of a series of brand new, Cloud-hosted, back-end components to support the entire Sky OTT/Internet TV platform. • Successfully delivered a greenfield project that consisted in releasing a set of REST-based web services, part of the major restructure of the whole Sky OTT Platform. The main delivery was a highly performing and highly available API layer responsible for device registration and concurrency management for Sky Go, Sports, Movies and Now TV (more than 10 million devices across the UK). The on time delivery of this project was key in successfully concluding a commercial agreement between Sky and Virgin Media. • Completed a major refactoring of the existing platform, so to allow the new components to be smoothly integrated with no impact for the customers.
As Scrum Master in the R&D department, my experience included: • Ensuring the on time delivery using the Scrum methodology for three cross-functional teams, for a total of 20 people, comprised of Developers, Testers, System Integrators and Architects • Collaborating with the Product Owner to ensure the backlog was properly estimated and prioritized • Conducting Scrum of Scrums meetings with other teams located in the Netherlands, France, China and U.S.A. on cross-dependencies and impediments resolution • Coaching and training of members of the R&D department on Agile best practices • Recruitment and performance review of staff members Key achievements: • Actively contributed to the transformation from Waterfall to Agile/Scrum, driving the tailoring of processes and tools according to organizational needs • Coordinated Scrum Masters located in the Netherlands and in China for the delivery of a new product feature for Irdeto Conditional Access System; delivered on a tight schedule, ensuring a successful deal with new customers
